May 1941 was a busy month. First Hess flies to England, then the Germans invade Crete, and finally the British chase and sink the Bismarck.

And the USA wasn't even in the war yet. We often forget that WWII had been going on for -- what, 2 years? -- before Pearl Harbor.

What's your view of what Rudolf Hess was really up to, Flattop?

Your guess is as good as mine.

There is some logic in him hoping to avoid a two front war for Germany by persuading Britain to make peace.

I'll echo ox - cool stuff

Next month gets even more busy - Operation Barbarossa has its 70 anniversary

I may be small, but I'm slow.

A veteran - whether active duty, retired, or national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to, "The United States of America ", for an amount of "up to and including my life - it's an honor."

Look forward to all those commemorative parties of "Barbarossa Turns 70" in Belarus and the Ukraine.

LOL - and to think the Germans were origanally viewed as liberators
