  • God needs to get a life -

at least judging from the amount of time he's spending calling and guiding Michele Bachmann to do pretty much everything she's ever done. This woman doesn't make spaghetti for dinner w/o God calling her to do it.

    He's obsessed. I hope she's considering a restraining order.

Under the guise of presenting Christian testimony at a church service, Bachmann spoke about her life, her political agenda, and candidacy for Congress. Bachmann revealed that God has been personally speaking to her and commanding her since she was sixteen years old, sometimes sending her religious visions. For example, you will find in the following transcript that Bachmann believes that God commanded her to run for United States Congress.

Bachmann is not speaking metaphorically. She literally believes that God comes to her when she is praying in the Spirit and tells her what to do.
Tenacious D needs to take note of Michelle Bachmann's appropriate use of metaphor.

I'm not surprised that she understands metaphor. Those Ivy League types are smart.

It sounds like God could free up some of His time if she would just listen to her husband and leave Him alone.

And from there, my husband said "Now you need to go and get post-doctorate degree in tax law." Tax law? I hate taxes. Why should I go and do something like that? But the Lord says: Be submissive, wives, you are to be submissive to your husbands.

You beat me to it. I was going to post that very paragraph.

I'm glad God isn't as involved in my life as in hers.

Michelle Bachmann is all about Michelle Bachmann. Not unusual at all for a politician, but she has unusually acute case.

How have I missed the fact that (1) Oral Roberts had a law school and (2) she got her degree there?

I'm not sure I'd be broadcasting that particular educational bit around.

I see nothing wrong with this. Think of how much time He spends helping just the members of your ward find their lost car keys.

Or altering food so that the nutritional content will somehow be absorbed into our bodies after we eat it. Millions of members worldwide, 3 meals a day. That is a lot of food!

Yeah. It only lasted a few years. It seems that a fourth law school in Oklahoma was a bit much.

As far as broadcasting the CV, I think she figures it puts her ahead of Palin.

First, let me say this is an all-time top 10 thread title.

Having gotten that out of the way, I'd say that between the gobs of members who monopolize F&T meetings as well as nutty comments in lessons at church, and the Christian fundamentalists roaming in droves in the South, I'd conclude those like Bachman are a dime a dozen in this world. Nothing to see here folks. Move along now.

All kidding aside, there's a big difference between getting personal help and getting God's direction to seek fame and power (not to mention fortune).

Different in extent, but not so much in the nature of the request. Both strike me as mindblowingly myopic and self-centered.

But I put that in His hands and I put in His plan, and I put it in His hands, and pursued that, and eventually He did, He took me to law school.
I like the image of God dropping her off at the dorms and helping her move in.

And I went to the first Christian law school that there was in the United States, down at Oral Roberts University, where they taught the law from a Biblical worldview.
I bet the course on Leviticus is awesome, with live demos of animal sacrifice and what-not.
