With all the recent rain, severe t-storms and tornadoes, we are experiencing major historical flooding all around us. The Ohio River is about 2 miles from our front door. We haven't been affected (just yucky, swampy yard) but others have lost everything. Sandbagging is going on everywhere right now, and even that isn't helping some people.

Not yet, but it's coming. Twice the average precipitation in April. Large snowpack just waiting for warmer temperatures. Maybe we'll get called out of church again to go throw sandbags.

The USACE is giving the okay to blow the 2 mile wide levy at Cairo, IL to help relieve the flooding in the area. There is a ton of contraversy surrounding the decision as it will flood 200,000+ acres of Missouri farm lands. We had to drive through 6" of water over the road going into town this morning. Once that road is closed, we will only have one way out of our area (it will add 15 minutes to my commute).
