  • Kate won't way obey, Royal Wedding

What the heck. She is going to be a Princess because he is a Prince and she won't say "obey". She must be really hot for him to still go ahead and marry her.

I can't believe there wasn't a Royal Wedding thread for me to add this comment. What the heck. Isn't this board interested in "big events".

I just woke up and turned on the tv. I had no idea this was today. I'm watching it. It is kind of interesting. I still don't understand why this is a big deal.

I've been watching all morning since quarter to 5am with a 1 year old who refused to sleep. Then my 5 year old was up not much later and she is having a serious princess phase right now so she was glued to the TV.

It was pretty cool. Kate is beautiful. William is turning into his father with each passing year. But forget the princess, who is her sister? Rowr.

does he have to promise to obey her? I mean if it's a mutual thing then that's fine, but if it's just one way . . .

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

She should just say "hearken" instead of "obey"

They've been having this debate over the word "obey" for 100 years now. I think one of the Little House on the Prairie books discusses it.

            Kate's sister is Pippa.

Like CJF, I happened onto the live ceremony as well. Very nice descant on the second verse of Guide Us O Thou Great Jehovah Redeemer.

I did like the bridal gown very much, except that the textured fabric which fit so nicely and smoothly over her bodice unexpectedly puckered too near the location of her left nipple.

You can be sure that William's family inspected the long form of Kate's birth certificate.

I woke up and unable to get back to sleep turned on the TV. I had no idea the freaking royal wedding was on at 4 in the morning. To the British people: I've never been much of an Anglophile, but I get it now. The history, the tradition, and the pageantry just grab you on an emotional level. The ceremony, the sermons, the hymns, the prayers...I was impressed and surprisingly moved. And what a beautiful bride. She may be a "commoner", but he's the one who married up, he's a 30 year old in need of a combover.

Not likely since you could easily tell she's a Brit by the accent. It's more difficult with Americans because we have no accent.

She must really make the little king happy so he doesn't care.

Well if he does he didn't take it out or nobody cares if he took it out because I haven't heard anything about him and his vows.

Reminds me of when some English kids said they loved listening to the American accent of a guy from California, who I thought spoke unaccented American English. My response was, "No, we don't have accents, you guys do!" It was a funny moment. That said, as much as I love accents of all kinds, they are unimportant here in the USA but mean a lot on the British Isles.

Same for me. I had no idea it was on when I turned it on. I quickly turned the channel only to find that it was on every major and local news channel. So I watched it on BBC. I won't say I was caught up in things, but it was interesting and I didn't hate watching. I actually kind of like the Prince. He seems like a good guy. And his desire to stay serving in the military makes me respect him that much more. And his wife seems great. From a self made family who has worked hard to get where they are. She seems like a beautiful person, not just attractive.

The hymns helped me understand the LDS hymn book much better. A couple of them sounded like something that would be sung every week in LDS chapels all over the world. The pageantry was quite remarkable. I can't think of anything from the US that comes close this event.

I still don't understand the love and attention the royal family receives. My wife commented a few times that she couldn't believe this crap was on every tv station. But it was interesting. I was very little when his parents got married, but I still remember seeing the footage of their carriage ride on the news. What happened today truly is part of world history now. And it was kind of cool to watch it live on tv even when I had little desire to do so before I started. Especially seeing and hearing the event from the British perspective of BBC.

Listen to you folks all claiming you accidentally got up at 4 am and just happened to turn on the TV to see the wedding.
