Somebody set me straight on a 'what if' situation w/ U.S.

My b-i-l was visiting with me over the weekend. And in a passing conversation, he said that basically the United States government is bankrupt. That their bonds have been downgraded and China is no longer buying debt from the US. Made me think...."hmmm"....

Kind of had a "what if" moment. I began thinking to myself if this had any gospel angles to it.

You've heard of the "hanging by a thread" prophecy etc...and that the elders of Israel will come to save the country/constitution etc. etc.....

What if...the country was on the verge of collapse? What if...during the Obama administration, some things happen that collapses our economy, and maybe other unforeseen things happen to throw the country into turmoil.

Could Mitt Romney be the one to save the day? Is that a possibility? ...assuming that 'prophecy' were to be the real full meal deal?

    Weird thought.

Hmm... Good motivation for me to remain active I guess.

I thought Jewish bankers, aka the elders of Israel, already controlled all the money?

Irregardless of whether Mitt is the rill dill, I thought the white horse prophecy ("constitution hanging by a thread" etc.) has been debunked--it was never actually taught by Joseph Smith.

your bil is wrong. china has not stopped buying u.s. debt. even post-08 foreign holdings of federal debt have grown (close to 50%, i believe). if that ever did happen, they would have a whole lot of assets tied up in worthless paper. the tanking dollar would then really hurt china's export industries.

It sounds like JS did at least mention it, just not the full fledged version.

              Your link says:

Penrod shows that while Brigham Young (in 1854) and Eliza R. Snow (in 1870) reported that Joseph Smith once said that the US Constitution would hang by a thread...
