A veteran - whether active duty, retired, or national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to, "The United States of America ", for an amount of "up to and including my life - it's an honor."

For my fellow wordsmiths (and I'm looking at you, Wuap et al), what is the difference between a change and a sea change?

One has "sea" in front of it and the other doesn't. Geez, this is basic 4 year old "Highlights" magazine "Five Differences" stuff.
There's no such thing as luck, only drunken invincibility. Make it happen.

I view change as an alteration, while a sea change is a radical alteration. For example, I could change from wearing guayaberas to Hawaiian shirts every day. That's a change, but if I started sporting a suit every day, that's a sea change in my wardrobe.

It's funny, but I used this word this morning in a different correspondence, and I was wondering about its origins. I just checked the OED (please pause reading and observe a moment of quiet reverence...............................ok), and the term was coined by Shakespeare in The Tempest.
"Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.
The rest of us rarely bother to think about our actions." --Solon

I don't know about the facts they use, or the agenda behind this... but I thought it was interesting.
