Not saying any of them deserved it, but I just don't understand why people don't just listen and do what cops say.
The same reason cops often have such a hard time acting like responsible adults, I would bet. People lose their heads and act stupid in scary situations.
Of course, the cops are supposed to be responsible and are trained to deal with such situations...
disgusting. if this is as bad as it looks, he needs to end up working mall security with a plastic gun for the rest of his life.
I don't think it was that bad. It was after midnight on Saint Patrick's Day. These guys were all drunk. There is a large crowd watching and cheering on assault. The officer is trying to detain the man when the girl who was just attacking another girl puts her hands on him.
The cop is on administrative leave pending IR investigation. I doubt anything happens to him.
Is he the only cop there? You can half understand that he is trying to get the two aggressors under control and that she is clearly not responding to what must be his commands to get on the ground. Same reason the guy gets the night stick when he doesn't get on his face. But why on earth would he need to grab her by her pants, drag her back, and drop her on her face. Again, I'm sure she has disobeyed a command, she has wandered off, and yes she is resisting a little (though not aggressively, just not complying) but when you get up to her just cuff her. The very last part is the part that I really question.

The last part was the worst by far. Heightened by the fact she face planted when he hip tossed her to the ground.

I'm guessing he didn't mean for her to hit like that but obviously I have no idea. Looks like he overestimated the amount of force it would take to get her to the ground, combined with her having zero protective reaction for some reason (I'm guessing alcohol).
there hasn't been much mention of the mace in the face. I thought that if you were maced, you pretty much drop to the ground in agony. Esp after being clubbed in the knees a few times and punched in the head. Apparently not.
I'm not really all that sympathetic to her plight until he takes her down. Even drunk assholes who won't respond have their rights. I'm not really sure how I feel about this.
"Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.
The rest of us rarely bother to think about our actions." --Solon
