How do you pronounce crappie?Originally posted by wuapinmon View Postknow what a crappie is; I get misty when Stonewall Jackson talks to Jim on Christmas Eve in Gods and Generals; I could go on and on.
And you'd appreciate that I live in Fredericksburg, not far from Plank Road."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

I don't know if it was exactly the same, but my daughter sang a song very much like this one a couple of years ago when she was in 2nd or 3rd grade. Unlike yours, our school is predominantly white (70 or 80%). I am also in the South. It didn't bug me, but, as my custom is to not pay all that much attention at grade school music events, I didn't catch all the lyrics.

I don't see anything wrong with this song. It was a white man that told her to move to the back of the bus. I think the basic message gets taught. Rosa Parks refused to move, they called the cops, black people stopped riding the bus, the law got changed, and now anyone can sit where they want. What's offensive about that?Originally posted by wuapinmon View PostMy daughter is one of three white kids in a class of twenty-five.
Tomorrow she has to sing this song:
"Rosa Parks gets on the bus
On the bus
On the bus
Rosa Parks gets on the bus and said
"let's take a ride"
White man on the bus said,
"move to the back"
"move to the back"
"move to the back"
White man on the bus said,
"move to the back, before we take a ride"
She looked him in the eyes and said,
"no way, Jack!"
"no way, Jack!"
"no way, Jack!"
She looked him in the eyes and said,
"no way, Jack! I'm going to stay right here!"
Someone yelled, "Go get the cops!"
"go get the cops!"
"go get the cops!"
Somone yelled, "go get the cops! 'cause she ain't sittin'
there!"
The cops took Rosa off to jail
Off to jail
Off to jail
The cops took Rosa off to jail
Then history was made.
All the blacks quit ridin' the bus
Quit ridin' the bus
Quit ridin' the bus
All the blacks quit ridin' the bus
And then the laws were changed
The people on the bus are black and white
Black and white
Black and white
The people on the bus are black and white
Sittin' wherever they please!
No blacks have to go to the back
Go to the back
Go to the back
No blacks have to go to the back
THANKS TO ROSA PARKS FOR THAT!

Get out of this thread you Yankee!Originally posted by Surfah View PostHey I live south of the Mason-Dixon line too pal. You're touchy. What's to explain? I can claim the South all I want, but I am pretty sure no matter how long I live here, the South will not claim me.What's to explain? I have lived in the South for a better part of half my life (VA now KY). I would consider myself, at this point, a country boy. Maybe even a redneck. I would give it all up in a heart beat to back in God's Country (i.e. the Great Northwest)I'm your huckleberry.

That was quite the sight. To shut down a major highway to pay respects to a Nascar legend. That is also where I first saw the sticker in the back of the window that read, "God needed a driver, so he took Dale!"Originally posted by Surfah View PostWhen he passed the local funeral parlor had a memorial service for Dale Sr. The turnout shut the roads down.I'm your huckleberry.
