When he was Stake President in Boston, he had a WOMAN as his executive secretary. Called and set apart. Completely verboten, but he did it anyway.

Really? I wonder what Mama Romney thought of that.Originally posted by statman View PostWhen he was Stake President in Boston, he had a WOMAN as his executive secretary. Called and set apart. I doubt his mom cared.Originally posted by BlueHair View PostReally? I wonder what Mama Romney thought of that.
I've stated before that the first thing I'm doing if I'm ever bishop is calling a woman to be the Sunday School President. There is no reason this is a male only calling other than the fact that it takes no real effort to fulfill."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Well except when they split the Akron Zone into the Akron and Cleveland Zones and I became the Cleveland ZL. Why is that significant? Cleveland is actually a mission now. My leadership skills have been vastly underutilized since then, except the stint as SS President.

No, but I was the DL in Canton and Wooster was in my District. I didn't switch off with the Elders there too much though because I had to spend most of my time with the two Elders (BYU guys) over in Alliance.Originally posted by Paperback Writer View PostDid you ever serve in the branch in Wooster, OH?

Mitt and I served in the same mission.Originally posted by byu71 View PostI noticed Mitt was a bit of a renegade when we were in the Mission Home together."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. No requirement for a female RS President....although I'd love if the requirement was for someone that doesn't hold the PH.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostOn that note, does the RS pres have to be a woman? It would be wild to call a man to be RS Pres. Probably would piss off the feminists, actually."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. The Relief Society president has the following responsibilities:
She serves as a member of the ward council. As a member of this council, she participates in efforts to build faith and strengthen individuals and families (see chapter 4).
