This is not about John Huntsman, but he is such a wanker that I am going to put it here.
A day or two after Huntsman's toady posted that hit piece in the Trib, the DesNews posted an op-ed piece about how Spencer Cox's duties at Lt.Gov include oversight of elections, but that is grossly unfair when he a candidate, yada yada. Well it turns out that Spencer Cox did indeed recuse himself last June and the DesNews did a story about it. Check out the responses to the DesNews post. Pretty funny stuff.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Huntsman had more to do with the Des News editorial than meets the eye. Who is on the editorial board anyways? I hate when papers publish that kind of stuff with no by-line.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostThis is not about John Huntsman, but he is such a wanker that I am going to put it here.

The knock on Huntsman isn't his mind or policy-positions, but his tepid leadership and extreme (even by politician standards) opportunistic streak. I hope Cox wins.Originally posted by YOhio View PostI just watched this Silicon Slopes interview with Huntsman and I thought he did a nice job. Not much I disagreed with. I’ll still vote for Cox but I was too irrational when it came to Huntsman.

I can't believe I generally agree with you about something. It truly is a sign of the apocalypse.Originally posted by frank ryan View PostThe knock on Huntsman isn't his mind or policy-positions, but his tepid leadership and extreme (even by politician standards) opportunistic streak. Another thing I don't like about Huntsman, in addition to what you mentioned above, is his opportunistic Mormonism. He and his family play up their Mormon credentials to the Utah audience when Mormonism suits them and downplay it to a non-Utah audience when it doesn't suit them.

Don't know if this related. If not, I can move to the Utah politics thread.
There are a number of follow-on links to this tweet.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Sometimes these things happen. We also agree that we enjoy seeing BYU win at athletics.Originally posted by BigFatMeanie View PostI can't believe I generally agree with you about something. It truly is a sign of the apocalypse.

oh my - that's two now. I got a random text about signing an electronic petition for Cox to make it on the ballot but didn't know if it was legit or not. I also don't remember if I need to be a Republican to do that.Originally posted by Eddie View Post

Frank - mark it down! We agree on something!

I think you do have to be a registered party member to sign the petition.Originally posted by frank ryan View Postoh my - that's two now. I also heard a couple of weeks ago that Cox had enough signatures, but they were working on picking a few more up as they anticipated that some would be disallowed as duplicates and/or people not registered with the party.
