  • Struggling on $500K

This NYT article literally made me a bit nauseous.

PRIVATE school: $32,000 a year per student.

    Mortgage: $96,000 a year.

    Co-op maintenance fee: $96,000 a year.

    Nanny: $45,000 a year.

We are already at $269,000, and we haven’t even gotten to taxes yet.

Five hundred thousand dollars — the amount President Obama wants to set as the top pay for banking executives whose firms accept government bailout money — seems like a lot, and it is a lot. To many people in many places, it is a princely sum to live on. But in the neighborhoods of New York City and its suburban enclaves where successful bankers live, half a million a year can go very fast.
How do they ever get by without nannies, co-ops, and private schools? Forget Goat, I want to punch one of these people.

Sometimes I think the NYT is just trolling, like with the mom who was sacrificing to give her kids a proper Christmas.

Anyone of them would kick your ass.

I don't know why we should care how they spend their money. I'm very, very sure that your spending habits would make me nauseous. But this is America, and I will fight to the death to defend your right to spend your money the way you want to!

      Yeah!
      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Moroni wouldn't. In his prophetic role, he condemned the way the modern world spends their money.

I believe Moroni would, because he did. Just like his father before him, inspite of the condemnation.

I'm guessing that nanny appreciates their lavish lifestyle.
