Education, good work ethic, ambition, building strong families -- this law rewards all of these things. And without the law, these young people face the continual threat of deportation to a country they can't even remember. They are smart, hard-working kids who want to get an education and be in a position to support a family. This seems like the perfect fit for Christian compassion and politics.

As to your contention that the program is ripe for abuse, the kinks would get worked out fast enough. Your criticism holds true for all new policy. Betting on college-bound kids with a track record of achievement seems like an easy choice, and one that seems pretty naturally harmonious with the LDS religious culture.
You were right when you said that religion shouldn't dictate a persons political views. You should have stopped at that. Though it is interesting that you pretend to know what my religious views are. Here's a tip for the future...you don't. But it's always fun to hear what a non-religious person thinks I should believe about religion.

As for the kinks getting worked out fast enough, sorry, but I'm not buying it. I'm not talking about administrative kinks here anyway. Even if I were, I'm sure glad they worked out all the kinks in the 1886 comprehensive immigration reform. That's why we aren't having this discussion today.

Not interested until our borders are secured, and the flow of illegal immigration is stopped first.

For starters, look no further than your same post:

Yes, you do need to demonstrate it. There isn't one immigration form issued by USCIS for purposes of adjustment of status, conditional or otherwise, that doesn't require taxes (in this case from the parents), school records (which I assume would be the primary document of importance on this application), proof of continued residence, etc. The only thing you can really get away with merely asserting is place and date of entry into the U.S.

This is like fishing with dynamite. I already told you that every USCIS application that is shown to be fraudulent is forwarded to DHS. No bill authorizing immigration relief need include the penalty for fraudulent applications-- that's already covered by INA 247C

Way to hedge and then lash out. You clearly have more of a bias than I do since you seem to have a solid opinion without the benefit of factual basis. I really don't think I've said anything irrational here, just perhaps a bit more humanitarian than some Mormons are comfortable with.

Touchy touchy, Jacob. All I said is that the policy seem like a natural fit with LDS values. Fit and fashion are different things. So the law can fit with LDS values, but that aint' yo style. You is a white-knuckled illegal-head-cracking-send yo-ass back to wherever-you-came from mofo momo. Dat' how you roll.

LOL. Yes, you are the humanitarian one and the Mormons are uncomfortable with being so humanitarian. Case closed!

Like I said. You are coming at this with way too much bias and vested interest. I am willing to be convinced that this is a good deal. Hell, when Robin described it as a narrowly tailored benefit to a few hard working and innocent, education seekers, who were so assimilated as to be mostly American anyway, I said I was fine with it. As I read a little more, I learned that that is not the case.

              Still more projection. It's cute.

You got me there! The ass-whipping I put on you in this thread was anything but humanitarian!

A champion in your own mind. Good for you. When you find those deleted posts of coherent arguments you made in this thread please send them to me via private message. TIA.

Of course my arguments were incoherent to you. Let me know when you are able to achieve any level of comprehension of the bill we've been arguing about.

Or have you even read it? Wait....

On second thought, maybe you should let us all know if you ever learn to read.
