    NASA finds life?

Not sure what but seems interesting. They seem to think so, enough to hold a press conference.

    MEDIA ADVISORY : M10-167

NASA Sets News Conference on Astrobiology Discovery; Science Journal Has Embargoed Details Until 2 p.m. EST On Dec. 2

WASHINGTON -- NASA will hold a news conference at 2 p.m. EST on Thursday, Dec. 2, to discuss an astrobiology finding that will impact the search for evidence of extraterrestrial life. Astrobiology is the study of the origin, evolution, distribution and future of life in the universe.

Nah. It will be something like they found a mechanism by which complex carbon molecules form in clouds of interstellar dust or something like that.

Actually, this sounds like an amusing premise for a meeting of the cultures sort of SNL skit.

I can't find a clip, but Kirstie Alley 1991, Season 17, Episode 3 did a skit called "Their Eyes Were On Their Breasts", hilarious.

There has to be life somewhere in the vast universe. I just don't understand why we need to find it.

I doubt we know what God looks like. We can't even get Jesus right and it's only been a couple of thousand years.

At their conference today, NASA scientist Felisa Wolfe Simon will announce that they have found a bacteria whose DNA is completely alien to what we know today. Instead of using phosphorus, the bacteria uses arsenic.

That sounds like the start of a horror movie. I might lock myself in the basement before the hordes of arsenic spewing aliens invade us.

Very cool, but I'm a little disappointed that the life isn't extraterrestrial.
