  • Overreact much? Anita Hill.

I find it a little strange that Clarence Thomas's wife would contact Anita Hill to ask for an apology re: Clarencel. But, apparently she did, by calling Ms. Hill's office and leaving a voice mail to that effect. No threats or insults. Just a plea for an apology.

Ms. Hill's response? Call the police, who called the FBI. Sheesh.

While I think Anita Hill is a complete moron, I don't really blame her for what she did. Mrs. Thomas was wrong to contact her and ask for an apology simply because Justice Thomas was confirmed to the SCOTUS despite the allegations by Ms. Hill. There was no need to bring it up after almost 20 years.

What crime was potentially committed? Let's recall that Ms Hill is a law professor. Why would the police need to be involved over a mild-mannered voice mail?

I see where you're headed with the question about which crime might have been committed and will agree that there really wasn't one. However, perhaps Ms. Hill thought the call was closer to harassment then Mrs. Thomas felt it was trying to extend an olive branch - though I've always felt that the person extending the olive branch was the one who was apologizing. Maybe I'm wrong.

And you need to remember that as a liberal, Ms. Hill is more aware of harassment and offensiveness than most people.

Have you heard the VM? Do you know that it was mild-mannered? (I can't access the link from where I am, so I don't know if it is there).

Ya think? That was the point to my Overreact Much? comment. Ms Hill has a history dating back 20 years of overreacting to perceived harassment.

Was it appropriate in any way for Mrs. Thomas to contact Anita Hill? I don't think it's that crazy. What other options does she (Anita Hill) have to prevent follow up harassment? I think it's best to do this when it is one voicemail rather than constant calls, letters, voicemails, etc.

Calling the call an "olive branch" seems pretty generous. If anything, it was a reminder after 20 years that she still thinks Anita was lying and that it'd be great if she'd admit it. That's hardly an olive branch.

She said she thought it was a prank call.

And why is she the one who owes an apology, anyway?
If we disagree on something, it's because you're wrong.

Ummm - the record and her testimony prove she was lying - or at least that she was not telling the truth. Her timeline of events was simply off.

What's Ms. Thomas's occupation and position? Maybe Anita Hill can go work for her now; you know, because she has a track record of taking on new employment with people that have previously harassed her.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Mrs. Thomas may now think it a bad idea to resurrect this controversy:

                          http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/justi...ry?id=11950662

I wonder if we'll soon see a former video store owner step up & coroborrate this account?

Virginia Thomas may end up looking like a moron, herself.
