I know the crash thing has oversaturated the news, but driving into work I listened to the audiotape of Sully and the flight controllers after the birds hit (and weren't you relieved to learn bird debris was found in both engines, elminating the risk his heroics might be exposed as a fraud?). If you haven't listened to the exchange, do so. It's amazing how calm everyone stayed under pressure. When he says, "We may put this down in the Hudson", he announces this with the intensity of "I think I'll step out for a sandwich." I know they're trained to operate that way, and I'm thankful for that.
I think of medical professionals here like ER and Cardiac, and assume they're equally calm in the face of disaster (blood spurting everywhere, for example). I'd probably be screaming like Hudson in Aliens 2.
