That's pretty scary stuff. Why does this seem to happen more often than not on a college campus? Are these types of events just more publicized than others?

It isnt the first time at UT, unfortunately. Some may be aware of the old Texas tower incident several decades ago.

I am hopeful that this incident will end peacefully.

This is correct. I was surprised that none of the students in my section were even aware of that...and they all grew up in Texas. Up until Virginia Tech, UT's tower sniper was "the" campus shooting.

Tornado sirens are going off every ten minutes, and there's a swarm of helicopters overhead. It's a really bizarre scene when juxtapositioned with such a beautiful fall day. At least the shooters didn't hurt anyone.

I think my favorite part is where it says Sooner fans bleed crimson. You know, the "I bleed..." phrase may have rhetorical merit with a lot of teams, but with OU and Alabama it just looks silly.
