  • School cancelled. Work cancelled. Woohoo! We brought everything in, got our water storage ready, tested the generator, etc. We're ready. Hopefully we don't have to use any of it. I think it will miss us but Pellegrino you may be getting slammed.

      Take care, Pellegrino!
      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

        • Here on the Outer Banks we have had steady wind and rain. Our family always goes to the beach during these storms and today the sand blowing made it impossible to face the wind. School was off for some teacher thing already.
Church was cancelled. I'm in sales and am debating on being on road in this weather. Hope everyone stays safe.

              • Storm Warnings

The glass has been falling all the afternoon,
And knowing better than the instrument
What winds are walking overhead, what zone
Of grey unrest is moving across the land,
I leave the book upon a pillowed chair
And walk from window to closed window, watching
                Boughs strain against the sky

And think again, as often when the air
Moves inward toward a silent core of waiting,
How with a single purpose time has traveled
By secret currents of the undiscerned
Into this polar realm. Weather abroad
And weather in the heart alike come on
                Regardless of prediction.

                Between foreseeing and averting change
Lies all the mastery of elements
Which clocks and weatherglasses cannot alter.
Time in the hand is not control of time,
Nor shattered fragments of an instrument
A proof against the wind; the wind will rise,
We can only close the shutters.

I draw the curtains as the sky goes black
And set a match to candles sheathed in glass
Against the keyhole draught, the insistent whine
Of weather through the unsealed aperture.
                This is our sole defense against the season;
These are the things we have learned to do
                Who live in troubled regions.
                - Adrienne Rich

                  • 90 degrees here today. Absolutely fabulous. I have to concede that every one in awhile I notice something redeeming about Texas.

Very nice! It was 39F this morning with 93% humidity. I was not happy. The weather looks ideal for the Day of the Dead tomorrow.

amen. It is going to be a high of 68 today, 70 tomorrow, and low-to-mid thirties starting on Sunday and through the next week.
