Weirdest summer ever. Usually by the end of June I have mowed my lawn for the last time until fall because it is dead and stops growing. Not this year. The temps have been so mild and we have had so much rain that my grass is green and requires mowing weekly. Today it is in the 70's with zero humidity and a light breeze. I can't believe it is August either. Hopefully the weather is like this when BYU comes to town.Originally posted by wuapinmon View PostWow! The weather over the next few days is going to be awesome. No ice cream trucks today.

Well, not yet at least. But it is currently 50 degrees and sunny, and all the snow is gone, so maybe the ice cream man will swing by later. My daughters were very upset that school wasn't canceled; they didn't get a chance to play in it. I was very happy that seminary WAS canceled.

Seriously? I have to explain this cultural reference? Am I the only one who understands I was making a joke?Originally posted by Clark Addison View PostDo nice neighborhoods not have ice cream trucks? I was not aware of this. Our neighborhood has always had ice cream trucks, just not in January.

Every time the ice cream truck shows up in our neighborhood we joke about it with something like "Well there goes the neighborhood." I guess it isn't that ice cream trucks show up in neighborhoods, but that they show up unexpectedly at odd times, like when kids are in school or when it's cold out.A pharmacy student apparently was selling drugs from an ice cream truck he drove through Cheektowaga neighborhoods last summer, federal authorities told The Buffalo News on Thursday.
When we were first in graduate school we lived in a neighborhood that had one of these ice cream trucks. It would drive past our complex with its music on and then a few blocks later it would turn the music off, turn around and slowly drive to its various customers, none of whom were children. We didn't think anything about it until one January day we heard it drive by playing that familiar tune.

I haven't seen an ice cream truck in ages.
You know what else I haven't seen in ages and totally kicks ass? The manapua truck. I wonder if that thing still even exists.
