Stop posting and go fill up yer car with gas!"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

yeah, mine are a bit bigger than your matchsticks. Like, if this thing comes our way, I'll be heading to Asheville. No way I'm staying in my house with a 40" diameter pine tree about 15 feet away. I have 19 fully-mature pines within 80' of my house.Originally posted by Moliere View PostNo need, the storm will take care of that for you.

Yeah, that 2PM update didn't change the path. Saturday makes six years since we evacuated for Katrina. Looks like we might be headed north again on Friday if this forecasted path holds. I hate this shit.Originally posted by CJF View PostHopefully the storm misses you, but if not, stay safe, wuap.
I'm not worried about flooding where I live; I'm worried about this kind of devastation. What was once a dense dark pine forest was turned into this in a couple of hours, and this was about 70 miles from the coast.

This is the reason we cut down our pine trees. We had four in the yard at one point. One was lost to beetles. One was blown over in Ike. One was blown over in a violent windstorm the year after Ike. That last one we just cut down because we knew it was coming down at some point and want to control it's fall. We still have plenty of trees, but none that could do signficant damage like the pines.Originally posted by wuapinmon View PostYeah, that 2PM update didn't change the path. Good, it's got it further up the coast now. Let's hope it just turns out to sea.

Holy Crap we need some rain. It was 102 today! We haven't had a rainstorm for what seems to be several months. I've never seen Houston with brown grass, but it's now starting to turn that color.....and there's little hope in sight. It's forecasted to be 107 on SundayOriginally posted by Uncle Ted View PostFixed it for you.

Yes, I am to the point that I am willing to sacrifice Houston to a hurricane in exchange for a little rain.Originally posted by Moliere View PostHoly Crap we need some rain. It was 102 today! It seems like I had half of Houston staying at my place the last time (including people we both know and a bunch of their neighbors). Come on up.Originally posted by nikuman View PostI got news for you pal: Houston is willing to sacrifice Houston to a hurricane for some rain.
