Adams has had a very interesting career arc, to say the least. In the 90's he founded '100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care' an advocacy group that spoke out against police brutality in NYC. I first heard of this in this Intercept podcast, which I've posted before but I am recommending again everyone listen to:

But yeah, from founding a needed advocacy group to whatever he represents now, is something.

Why not? My point is, why is there a specific definition of antisemitism pronounced by the government? Is antisemitism a crime? Is it a crime to hate an ethnic group? Certainly it is terrible, abhorrent, counterproductive, etc. But a crime? No. It is not a crime to hate a particular ethnic group. Violence against a particular ethnic group should be handled the way violence against any person or group would be handled under the law. I cannot see any reason that such a definition is necessary as adopted by a government. Advocate for love, peace, acceptance, etc. But by defining antisemitism, you are trying to control speech and behavior, not crime.

Also, I disagree that Mamdani is signaling to his base that it’s okay to go back to committing violence against jewish students or jewish people in general. I think you are being hyperbolic for effect.

Remember when you didn’t think he was signaling for this. I said “We shall see and likely to happen in th summer.”
