With the current health care bill you can actually opt out of the health insurance mandate by claiming a religious objection. So what happens if a large percentage of people suddenly become Amish or something to avoid the mandate until they really need insurance?

Needless to say, we are swamped with work, yet we aren't getting paid. Because of this, the people in my area have poor access to healthcare.
I'm self employed as a contractor and one company I do work for pays the invoices 60 days after I bill them ("net 60"). I guess I won't complain any more given you have net 240 days with the government. It is no wonder many doctors are no longer accepting new medicaid patients.

The long term plan, according to the liberals, is to move everyone to a single payer system (medicaid for everyone). So I guess I there might be two classes of doctors: those that are willing to wait net 240 or so for the government's low compensation for their services and those that are doctors for the rich.

I totally get what you are saying, because I am such a good driver that I don't need auto insurance.

We already pay for those people. As a society we have basically agreed (ERs don't turn away patients) that everyone should have a basic form of health care. This part of ObamaCare just spreads the cost out over the entire population including those who think they are too healthy for health insurance. And as for those people, what happens if they are in a freak accident and need $300K in medical care? Who picks up that tab? Do we just say "too bad, you didn't have health insurance so you will die?" No, we won't say that and we don't say that. Now at least they will be insured when/if something happens.

ObamaCare may not be constitutional (I have no idea) and it may not be a great health plan, but it's not the monstrosity the right likes to make it out to be.

EXACTLY! Don't get me started on that. I have never gotten a ticket or been remotely close to being involved in an accident. I'm a fiercely defensive driver, and it has kept me in the clear.

You are not required by law to have a car.....or to obtain a driver's license.......so bad analogy.

Not so fast there bub. RF's point is valid in that it seems he talking about the benefits of having everyone who fits into a category being required to have insurance. So if you drive a car, it benefits everyone that you have insurance. If you live, it benefits everyone that you have insurance. Actually, having health insurance actually makes more sense than auto insurance given that we as a society have determined that we won't leave someone to die and we take care of you on the dime of everyone else. If you crash your car and can't afford to fix it, no one really cares except the people in your work car pool.
