  • Russians copy Moroni

Spies swapping identical orange bags as they brushed past one another in a train station stairwell. An identity borrowed from a dead Canadian, forged passports of several countries, letters sent by shortwave burst transmission or in invisible ink. A money cache buried for years in a field in upstate New York.

10 alleged Russian secret agents arrested in US

This is a weird story. I wonder how many people it will end up touching. Their intent, it appears, was to spread out and network. How many political ramblings of unsuspecting folks ended up in their reporting back to the fatherland?

    For example:

One intercepted message said Cynthia Murphy, "had several work-related personal meetings with" a man the court papers describe as a prominent New York-based financier who was active in politics.
This could end up being fairly damaging to some people.

    I found this lol funny:

FBI agents arrested the defendants known as Richard Murphy and Cynthia Murphy at their residence in Montclair, N.J.

A neighbor, Louise Shallcross, 44, said she often saw Richard Murphy at the school bus stop.

"We were all very excited to have a stay-at-home dad move in," Shallcross said.
    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Jessie Gugig, 15, said she could not believe the charges, especially against Mrs. Murphy. “They couldn’t have been spies,” she said jokingly. “Look what she did with the hydrangeas.”

Five years from now, this could be important to some mudslingers. I suspect it won't be the last time we hear about this.
