    LOL

I love how the AMerican public, including some on this board, were duped again into believing Obama.

When do we find out that insurance premiums won't be going down and our taxes will be going up and our access to healthcare isn't improving.

I'm pretty sure most everyone knew this bill wouldn't reduce costs. The Dems may have been saying in the media that costs would go down, but the evidence against that was overwhelming and they probably knew that. Once Brown got elected in Massachusetts, the hope of changing the bill to address rising costs went out the window. That left the Dems with two choices, either go with the senate bill as passed and make some minor modifications to it or scrap the whole thing and forget it. They obviously chose the former.

As has been discussed here several times, the issue of cost control will be addressed in the near future. In fact, it will have to be addressed now that teh government (tax payers) are subsidizing health care for others. Hopefully the fact that the government is now on the hook for the increased costs even more now than before the bill, they will speed up the cost control measures.

Taxes are going up and will most likely stay up, that is for sure.

It is amazing though how many people who you would consider intelligent, don't understand the bill.

My SIL is in nursing school. She told my brother she is amazed at how many people, including nursing school students, think they are going to get free health care.

She would be considered a minority. I told him to have her tell the white folks that tell her that, only the minorities get it free.

This is why I put no stock at all in any poll that asks the normal joe blow what they think about the bill. It's a complicated bill, but if you take the time to read some high level analysis (I have a few I've read, mostly on the tax side of course) you can at least form a somewhat educated opinion. Most people, however, get their information off of Fox or MSNBC, so they are misinformed.

I tend to believe that we don't need to read a bill to understand if it's good or bad if we look at who is pushing it. If a politician is trying to get us to support it, it's almost always bad.

That's what a bunch of liberals actually thought and were told by their king.

Especially if they have to bribe their own constituencies for their votes.

I love this as well from the article:

In addition to flagging the cuts to hospitals, nursing homes and other providers as potentially unsustainable, it projected that reductions in payments to private Medicare Advantage plans would trigger an exodus from the popular program. Enrollment would plummet by about 50 percent, as the plans reduce extra benefits that they currently offer. Seniors leaving the private plans would still have health insurance under traditional Medicare, but many might face higher out-of-pocket costs.

Sure glad AARP was behind this. Screw their constituency. The report also said it was concerned that hospitals and physicians may not want to accept Medicare patients. Ya think?
