A tour guide? Who in their right mind would want to tour North Korea? At any moment you could be picked up and accused of being a spy or farting to loud for that matter.

I didn't know this. North Korea gastronomy tour comes off the bucket list.

Maybe we are thinking of "tour guide" incorrectly. Maybe tourists aren't being guided, but the guide is for left leaning US government beauracrats, (sp) so they can learn how to run the US once Obama has converted us to the socialist style of government.

That was a rather fascinating read. I just can't fathom what the North Korean people have to put up with.

            • Her experience jibes with others'. I remember watching one or more of these videos years ago, shows the extent of NK'n propaganda. Pretty creepy.

So it was much easier to abduct an American student traveling alone in remote SW China. I think the theory is that David was detained by local authorities because he was suspected to be part of the Christian Chinese underground railroad. Especially since his traveling companion requested a visa to North Korea. Once the North Koreans interrogated David and found out he could speak Korean, Mandarian Chinese, and English he had value to them. The central government has been very helpful in many ways but this abduction occurred far away from central government in Bejing. What the Chinese haven't done is to actually use the political capital to get David's release. But that is a delicate diplomatic issue - admitting that a visiting American can get detained by local authorities and turned over to North Korea.

Thanks for everyone's support. I know it means a great deal to the Sneddon family. For those interested, here's a few links

I don't think so. My information on this comes from my folks and an older siblings who are in closer proximity to the Sneddon family and have a much stronger relationship.

There's a family wedding next summer in Utah that they might attend but am not sure. My younger sister and David's younger sister were best friends in high school but had a falling out in college and not sure if things ever were patched up between them. My folks are getting older and are having to cut back on social activities that require more than a few hours of driving so I'm not sure if they have had contact with the Sneddons. But my Mom is discovering social media so who knows?

There wasn't any new information on the website: http://www.helpfinddavid.com/

At least we learned that they have XBoxes (maybe Playstations) in North Korea.
