  • Whale War Boat Sinking

What do you guys think of this video? Who rammed who, or was the collision intentional for both parties? A little bit hard to tell not knowing the position and movement of the video capturer relative to the other two vessels. I'm saying it's 60% the evil Japanese whale murderers fault, 40% the granola-eating whale loving hippies' fault.

These people trying to stop the whalers are idiots.

I do not agree with how they go about their mission, but whales are worth saving.

They put themselves in harms way. Not much to bitch about at that point; Hazards of the job.

"In an unprovoked attack captured on film, the Japanese security ship Shonan Maru No. 2 deliberately rammed and caused catastrophic damage to the Sea Shepherd catamaran Ady Gil," said a statement from Sea Shepherd.
I've seen an episode of Whale Wars and to call this unprovoked is assinine. That's what the whale wars people do is provoke.

As for whose fault? I have no idea but I will say that Whale Wars is not worth watching since it was 1 hour long with about 5 minutes of actual action footage, kind of like River Monsters.

And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I watched a show about these whale hunters last year. They are idiots. A crew jumped on an inflatable dingy to get closer to the Japanese fishing boats, to throw spoiled eggs all over the crew deck. They were lost in a heavy fog in the Antartic. They found them about 3 hours later. They will never be able to stop the japanese whalers by imploring these tactics.

This is true...except those 5 minutes are awesome. Same with River Monsters.

Which ship is more maneuverable and faster? That little cat could have gotten out of the way if it wanted to. I'm not sure there was an intention to martyr themselves by having their expensive ship be damaged, but at a minimum they were playing chicken and betting that the Japanese ship would not ram them. to me the video is pretty clear.

UD is correct. That little cat could have gotten out of the way had whoever was a the controls wanted to. It looked to me like the hippies intentionally moved in front of the Japanese ship in order to get hit.

                  Bingo.

That offshore boat got too close and could have got out of the way.

While I'm not much of a whaling fan the sea Shephards are major idiots. I'm shocked they haven't been shot at.

Bob Barker helped finance the construction of that cat. That batmobile on water cost him $5 million. The price is wrong bitch!

Bob Barker financed the boat filming the incident (for $5 million). Ady Gil financed the catamaran for something like a million and a half.
                      Just a technicality.

South Park had a great episode on these guys earlier this season.
