    city weekly immigration article

    http://www.cityweekly.net/utah/artic...d-in-utah.html

I enjoyed reading it. This young lawyer seems impressive.

As for Rep Mike Noel, probably one of the grumpier people in the state, in my opinion.

Not bad for a Quinney grad.

    (poet!)
Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

HA! I know that guy. Total and utter douche. It doesn't surprise me to see some article written about him-- I'm sure he procured it knowing him. Look at that pose.

no, he's not. He takes the low hanging fruit and he doesn't fully understand immigration law.

I like Judge Nixon, but he doesn't know what the eff he's doing, either-- he has no background in immigration and we regularly reverse his misguided decisions on appeal. That's who Tarin clerked for, so I'm not surprised at the results.

            I don't get this part:

When he loses in court, when families are ripped apart or law enforcement commits injustices, it’s the Lamanite prophecy he falls back on. “It’s the principle always in the back of my mind that helps me know what I’m doing,” he says. “No one came to this land except by the hand of God.” Whether in court, in jail or in his office, when a client walks in, “I definitely have a sense of providence, that it’s not entirely a coincidence that we crossed paths.”
Is he saying that there is some Lamanite prophecy that people came to this land except by the hand of God? I know that is in the BoM but is he interpreting that to mean the good ol' USA? Seems like that scripture is more talking about the Americas as a whole given that the events of the BoM took place long before the actual European colonization and eventual founding of the USA.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I don't know about the prophecy bit, but there is no question lds church expansion is not upper class white folks. Latinos will wield massive political power in Utah within the next decade.
