    Sanjay Gupta for Surgeon General?

Interesting and kind of strange. I always think of physician medical correspondents as basically flunky doctors that must not have been able to hack it in medicine.

I also thought the Surgeon General was supposed to have some type of academic public health background. I guess Obama disagrees.

BO's a celebrity politician, makes sense to have a celebrity doctor. Personally, I would've gone for Dr. Drew, but that's just me.

Dr. Doolittle would have been a good choice too.

Or Dr. Seuss. Word has it that he was a socialist bastard as well.

That brings back memories of being a kid and having my mom tell me to not bother her while she was watching that show. Not even if the house was on fire.

I'm not sure that people outside of medicine realize how funny this choice would be. I'm trying to think of a good analogy...Johnny Cochran for Attorney General? But that doesn't even work, as Attorney General is such a political position that a populist choice isn't all that out there. This is like a figurehead for the direction of medicine.

BHO's appointments are like an episode of Battle of the Network Stars; lots of people who were on TV a few years ago, now trying to act serious in roles out of their element.

If Obama wants an SG who will be good at communicating with the public, I think Sanjay would be fine.
