These are the guys in charge of the IPCC / AGW efforts. They did the most unscientific thing imaginable. They threw away the raw data. Wow.

After reading the article, it sounds far less sinister than you make it out to be.

If you don't consider the actual Fact-Checking as an important thing then I guess it isn't that bad...

I hereby dedicate this thread to Snipe.

Question: Do you not see a connection between all this data and the current influx of green/eco-friendly crap. And the Cap & Trade Bill looming on us to take more of our money??

Now that this has come to light how can we verify anything? I am not willing to take their word on it...

            From the article:

The data were gathered from weather stations around the world and then adjusted to take account of variables in the way they were collected. The revised figures were kept, but the originals — stored on paper and magnetic tape — were dumped to save space when the CRU moved to a new building.
Jones was not in charge of the CRU when the data were thrown away in the 1980s, a time when climate change was seen as a less pressing issue. The lost material was used to build the databases that have been his life’s work, showing how the world has warmed by 0.8C over the past 157 years.
People dump paper data all the time. This happened 20 years ago. Looks like a manufactured controversy to me.

I seriously doubt that people would manufacture a controversy. What would be the point of that? Most people just crusade for truth.

Verifying the data was correct is considered "Manufactured controversy"?? Really???

They have made up data, and when someone requests a FOIA to verify their own work and find out its gone.. Been gone for a while now..

I am not saying that is "All of a sudden the data disappeared" I am saying, how are we supposed to verify what they say now?? We can't and in fact we can't trust them either... Nor the whole global warming fiasco..

Speaking of whom, and I guess we weren't, it was hilarious that throughout the uproar on CB Saturday evening over the game, Hall's comments, and the bloody aftermath, Snipe, alone, was still initiating politics threads about Obama and how the tide is turning against him. Pages of football posts but Snipe soldiered on, alone, in trying to stoke the anti-Obama flames. An excellent sense of timing and aptness.

Isn't that his m.o.? In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if dabrockster found that link in one of snipe's posts.

When I turned off the political category on CB, Snipe disappeared.

This is what I imagine the Speakeasy to be... attacking people behind their backs.

Guys, Snipe doesn't post here. No reason to go after him.

Calling Statman and Dabrockster the equivalent of Snipe is unfair IMO. Snipe along with FreddieCougar are the most dogmatic, hook, line and sinker Rush conservatives there are and I certainly wouldn't place either poster on here in the same category.

Although I'm mostly conservative on practically every issue except on social/moral issues, Snipe, Freddiecougar and that type are what drove me away from CB. So in other words, a lot of the blame for me being here and generally dragging down the collective IQ and content on this site can be placed on Snipe and Freddiecougar.

BTW, to his credit Snipe is fairly self-aware judging by his longtime screen icon choice of Yosemite Sam. It fits his posting style to a tee: impulsive, impatient, and inevitably stupid.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

FYI: I have not been to CB since I joined here... I periodically once a Month (To check my boardmail) but that is about it..... So I have no idea what Snipe posts about etc...
