Yeah, it's hard to believe that building and powering "carbon-sucking" machines would ever be as good as just planting and protecting forests.

The limiting factor here is how to launch these things into space, as it would be far too costly to send 16 trillion disks up by rocket.

So Angle is proposing a yet-to-be-built magnetic gun with a mile-long barrel to shoot the disks into space. Even then, he said it would still cost trillions of dollars.
This one is my favorite. I wonder what the carbon output would be to manufacture 16 trillion disks? Plus, you would need a lot of magnetic guns to shoot 16 trillion disks so that is more manufacturing.

One of my thesis advisors was a geophysicist during Vietnam. The Army asked him to design a plan to seed the clouds over the Ho Chi Minh Trail with silver iodide or something similar, in order to slow down the supply of weapons and food to the North Vietnamese army. The US sent up plane after plane of silver iodide in huge waves and succeeded in raising the level of rain a whopping quarter inch for the entire year.

I think we could do wonders by getting rid of lawns and planting trees and shrubs instead. Some places in Europe are now requiring all news roofs to be green roofs. While the up-front cost is heavy, the energy savings in the long run are magnificent.

What's a "green roof?" Is that a light colored roof or is it more like the conference center one where there is vegetation on top of it? That's actually a very good insulator but is heavy and would obviously not practical for every day life in a house.

This concept is at the heart of why I distrust the global climate change crowd's arguments.

We do not understand how climate works nearly well enough to decide how to fix it or even that it needs fixing.
