So why not kill all the people in the house? Why leave two witnesses behind? If you kill one, why not kill them all?

And the police tell the folks in the neighborhood that they aren't at risk?

    Where's Paul Harvey?

I watched a documentary on the gang life, and many of them said that as soon as they pulled the trigger and watched their target fall over, they would be filled with an immensely terrible feeling that would linger and linger. Even though the murder was premeditated and they were filled with hatred towards the target, it would still leave them feeling sick. They theorized that the overwhelming regret is why so many turn the gun on themselves even in situations when it appears that they can safely flee.

Here, I can only assume that the thought of killing unexpected witnesses such as a harmless little old lady and their child was too over the top.

I thought it was his son and daughter-in-law, not an old lady and her child. It will be interesting once the story gets out. My guess is that the police have a motive and suspect(s) or they wouldn't tell the neighbors it was an isolated incident.

That 911 call is pretty weird, too. The daughter-in-law is overly calm-sounding and then says she doesn't know the race of the people who tied them up and held them hostage? Definitely fishy.

According to what I have heard, Police think they were the ones that actually did it.

Can you imagine cutting your own father's throat? Horrible.

I dumped my dad's body in the ocean, so anything is in my realm of possibilities.

Was your dad cremated? Or was this a joke? Knowing of your previous posts regarding your dad, I'm inclined to think you wouldn't joke about this, but who knows.

Cremated. And knowing my previous posts, you should know that I joke about death all the time. Otherwise, the severity of the awareness of my mortality causes too much awareness for me to let go and forget about dying long enough to let the hammer down and let the indolence go wild and flying through.

Okay, but you don't joke about your dad. I can't imagine you jokingly discussing tossing your father's body over the port-side a-la Dexter.

No sarcasm here. Have you read this? http://wuapinmon.blogspot.com/2007/1...e-my-dads.html

That's my dad's eulogy (pretty close to what I actually said). If you read through there, you can see that I do joke about my dad. My family makes stupid jokes about everything. Hell, it's the basis of my teaching style (dumb jokes to lower affective filters in the language classroom). That my wife loves me after 11 years is a testament to her ability to either ignore me or appreciate the subtle intricacies of a never-ending string of double-entendres about sexual organs.
