While mindful of those on the board that are dealing with the economic fallout, there have been several articles mentioning that there is a surplus of skilled jobs in the market that aren't being filled because there isn't enough skilled labor to fill those openings, even in a 10% unemployment environment.
Everything in life is an approximation.

It is intereting to look at those lines and unemployment percentages.

4.5 % rate for those that have college degrees

9.1 % for high school degree.

17.5 % for no high school degree.

      Stay in school kids.

3.9% for the demographic at least 90% of the posters on the board fit into.

what is meant by "skilled labor?" Is that referring to trades, such as welding, masonry, etc? Or does it mean licensed work, such as doctors and lawyers? I don't know but I have heard the term many times before.
          Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

These aren't trades. These are specialized skills that often contain elements of more than one discipline. For example an IT engineer in healthcare.

I am in that 4.5% demographic. As are all the others on this board that I know of who are currently unemployed. And these others all have graduate and post grad degrees to boot.
