Happiness Is a Warm Gun: BANG BANG, SHOOT SHOOT!

Walking down the street yesterday I found a pristine 9mm cartridge lying on the sidewalk. I tossed it in my pocket not thinking much about it, but after reading this article it dawns on me I've won the lottery. There's no such thing as luck, only drunken invincibility. Make it happen.
Tila Tequila and Juggalos, America’s saddest punchline since the South.
Yesterday was Thursday, Thursday
Today is Friday, Friday (Partyin’)
…
Tomorrow is Saturday
And Sunday comes afterwards

I own several guns, but Mrs. wuapinmon won't let me keep them in the house; they're all at my grandfather's or mom's houses. I haven't bought ammo in 18 years I think.

You can shoot skeet at multiple targets, but one gun is all I'll ever need.Originally posted by Hallelujah View PostHappiness is MULTIPLE guns."Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.

I need more than one gun.Originally posted by wuapinmon View PostYou can shoot skeet at multiple targets, but one gun is all I'll ever need.
When I hunt deer and elk, I use a 30-06. When I hunt pheasant, I use a shotgun. When I teach my kids to learn gun safety and shooting, I use a .22. When I shoot an intruder in my home, I use a 9mm."Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

That's a good choice too. It's just that I got the Beretta 9mm for a very good price while in Italy and hollow tips are very effective.Originally posted by Colly Wolly View PostMight as well throw something at them. .40 S&W ftw."Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

I just don't see how this is news. It's a year old. The run on ammo started on election day last year. Literally.
prior to election day 2008, I could buy whatever round I wanted for whichever gun I own - 7.62X39, 9mm, 40 cal, 22LR, 5.56, .308, no problems with any of them. Now, they're all subject to stock-outs - sometimes they have them, sometimes they don't. Mostly, they don't - although the 5.56 situation has seemed to resolve itself in the last 5 or 6 months. Cabella's always seems to have it in stock now.
For all of the rounds, one thing is certain - they're all considerably more expensive. The days of the 20-cent rifle round are gone (very possible for 5.56 and 7.62X39 in the past) (and not counting 22LR - those are still cheap, although over double what they cost last year). The cheapest you'll find is in the 30-40 cent range, and that's if you buy them 500-1000 rounds at a time...

I've got some Speer Gold Dots. I've heard that terminal ballistic studies are inconclusive when comparing the stopping power of FMJ vs. hollow points. The purpose of a hollow point is to reduce the risk of harm to other people, not necessarily injure or stop an assailant faster/better.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostThat's a good choice too. You are correct. My brain was not functioning when I posted the above.Originally posted by Colly Wolly View PostI've got some Speer Gold Dots. I suppose I could use my rifle to shoot invaders. A 30-06 would make a very nice hole."Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill
