    Fascinating story

    I hesitate to post this in The Water Cooler, as it's clearly not intended as a political piece, at least not directly.

    Wife has cancer, husband loses job, can't find another one, enlists in the Army as a means of obtaining health coverage for his wife. From my view (and, again, I'm trying not to turn this into a political post) it's both heroic and incredibly sad.

    Agreed that pre-existing conditions should be addressed. So fix that. don't fix what isn't broken or which will become more broken.

      Great story. Some people do what needs to get done. Others sit around and complain, hoping someone will do for them what they know needs doing. I can't tell you how many times I've heard someone say that there is no work. Bill didn't say that. He just went out and got a job. It ain't pretty but it works.

          Has it ever ocurred to you that there are people who don't fall under either label? Or who don't care?

            Yes. All liberals are unemployed and all unemployed people are liberals. All conservatives are employed, and all employed people are conservatives. Yes, that's how it works.

              Ovarian cancer is a beast. I hope this has a happy ending with a full recovery and safe return. It could just as easily turn out the exact opposite.
              What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

                Nope. The real difference is conservatives see the world in black and white and liberals see it in white and black.
