    Still blaming Bush.

    http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/10/...tan/index.html

    In July 2008:

""The Afghan government needs to do more. But we have to understand that the situation is precarious and urgent here in Afghanistan. And I believe this has to be our central focus, the central front, on our battle against terrorism," Obama said Sunday on CBS' "Face the Nation."

And 1 1/2 years later, he's still blaming Bush? That theme is getting old considering what he promised he would do. His actions don't match his talk.

Oh well. Let's see how all this turns out.

7 1/2 years of a war that was gradually being lost through neglect by one president. 9 months under a new president. It is fair to lay some blame at the previous administration.

That doesn't mean you don't try to get it right if ou are the new guy. But this one is inherited and he will be judged on whether they can right a ship that was listing badly.

Yes, it is fair to start laying the blame at Obama's feet. He's been the President for 9 months and has practically ignored Afghanistan.

Pretty much everything that Obama has inherited is now worse than when he took office. When should he start shouldering the blame?

Right about now Obama can start to take credit or get blame for the things he has or has not done in office. Although I disagree with your interpretation that things that Obama inherited are worse than when Bush was in office. Policies take time to implement and they take a considerable amount of time to show fruit.

For instance, it took some time for the surge to start to show results in Iraq, but it turned out to have been a good policy for stability in the country and one of the (belated) successes of the Bush administration.

In Aghanistan it took years for the situation to disintegrate to this point and it will likely take years to bring it back to a point that is satisfactory. The question is whether we have the political will and deep coffers to do it right.
