English is one of the most dynamic and evolving languages going. Meaning for the English language is continually changing, and unlike languages with an official authoritative body that gets to decide the meaning of words, meaning, in English, is primarily defined by usage. If people want to use the word 'marriage' to describe the government sanctioned relationship between two gay people, there is no official reason why they should not be able to do that.
