    POLL: What is your BMI?

    The posts in the Diet and Nutrition thread led me to believe that we have a pretty high percentage of CSers that, like me, are categorized as obese according to BMI.

    So, let's figure out how fat we are as a group. What is your BMI?

    Handy BMI calculator here: https://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/edu...MI/bmicalc.htm
    26
    Underweight = <18.5
    0.00%
    0
    Normal weight = 18.5–24.9
    23.08%
    6
    Overweight = 25–29.9
    50.00%
    13
    Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater
    26.92%

    I would have to gain close to 40 lbs to be classified as obese and lose 25 lbs to be underweight. I think I will be hanging out in normal for the foreseeable future. Somehow if I was able to put on 13 lbs of muscle I could be overweight.

      No differentiation between gender?

      I'm overweight by .5 lbs. I would have to lose 50 lbs to be underweight. I just lost about 30 lbs earlier this year. My doctor was ecstatic and said to chill out a little bit. He seemed to be much more focused on inches around the waist than weight.

        I'm well into the obese range. Strangely, my target weight is also pretty close to obese. My high school playing weight, when I was in pretty damn good shape, would be just into the overweight category.

            I normally fluctuate around 22.5 to 23.5. The last month or two have not been particularly healthy, so I am above 24 and dangerously close to the overweight border. I made some new rules for myself this week.

              Overweight, BMI 28.9

              I just had my physical turning 50 last month, and I also have slightly elevated cholesterol. Which sucks, because before I had low LDL and high HDL. Now the opposite.

              Can I blame 2020?

                Almost. I used to be 5 11, but getting shorter all the time.

                  That online calculator puts me close to 26%, but the Army tape puts me at 23%. I don't trust either. I've been thinking about getting one of those body scans to see where I stand, but inertia.

                    If I grow another 10", I'll be in the "normal" range.

                          I'm in fat denial right now. I'll be back with my answer when I drop like 20 lbs

                            I am in the overweight category and it says I would have to lose a ton of weight to get to normal weight. A weight I have not seen since I was 17 years old. But the problem with these simple calculators is that they don't take into account body type. I have broad shoulders. My doctor used to laugh when he plugged my numbers in and would tell me that the charts were way too simplistic. That being said, I could stand to lose 10-12 lbs.

                              25.2. After dropping about 25 lbs since peak COVID weight, I’ve stalled out at around 190. I’ve been slacking on my food tracking and I have not been getting my 10,000 steps for the last month. Time to get back to work and get comfortably into the normal weight range. 183 here I come.
