  • Exercise Tracking Software

I have a Garmin Forerunner 205, which I use when I run, bike, and play tennis. I have used Garmin's Training Center software, and also Sports Tracks, which is nice because it has better maps. I don't know that I am using these to their fullest capabilities. My questions are:

What software do people here use with their GPS devices?

The way I generally use the software is that I upload my workout into the software, then I look at the map and say to myself "Yup, that's where I went", then I look at the summary and wonder why I am so slow, and then I log off. Am I missing something here? Do people use the software in ways that are somewhat more sophisticated and value added than me?

I use a free application called "Buddy Runner" that uses the gps on my G1 phone. It sounds like it does the same thing as your device. It tracks my runs, updates me every .5 miles with my distance, time, and pace, and then at the end of my run it uploads all that info to a website where it graphs the pace per distance as well as the altitude. It can also update my facebook status after each run with my distance and time and a link to my buddy runner page.

Doesn't sound like I'm doing anything more than what you are doing though.

i have runkeeper on my iphone... i haven't used it much, but it is accurate (meaning it came up with the the same mileage on a run i did with steelblue) and does all of the above... the iphone is bulky, though, so i've kicked around the idea of a garmin.
