Thanks to this site I've been a little more focused on what I shove down my pie hole and it's made a difference. I hope to lose four more before Lotoja. If nothing else it's been nice to see people on this site start exercising again or if they were already it's been nice to be able to share ideas and accomplishments with others here.

    Bravo, RC. Well done.

I have actually slipped a little and gained back 5-6 lbs. I plan to lose those and hopefully 5-10 more. Portion control, portion control, portion control.....

Hey, me too. Actually, I'm just half a scale needle width under 190 but close enough. That's down about 5 pounds from when I recommitted myself to lose some weight and a total of 11 pounds from my heaviest earlier in the year.
Is 2 lbs a week too aggressive? I'd like to get down to 180 by my birthday, if possible. (middle of Sept)

From what I've read, 2lbs a week is right in the healthy range, although I will defer to the docs around here.

I agree - seeing others exercise, etc., has been nice and a great motivator for me to keep it up.

I had a goal of getting under 200lbs, and actually hit right on 200 the beginning of last week. Then I slacked off some and picked up a lb or two and have had to refocus. I figure if I can get down to 195 I'll be in good shape and and work on keeping that.

If it weren't for hearing/reading others' stories, I'm not sure I would've set a goal below 215. And I probably would struggle a lot more than I am to tune out the siren call of the chocoloate donuts in the office break room right now.

Every time I feel like cutting a workout short, I think to myself: What Would Bluegoose Do? And then I try to do a mile more than that.

Nice job, RC. That is great news.

I find it hard to grasp how you hard core cyclists keep any weight on. Those are some serious caloric expenditures you are undertaking.
