My wife and I both use a PT. He runs $20 for 30 minutes individually. We use him 2x week for weight training.
He stacks & removes weight at the next machine all the while pushing me along. I'm totally spent after a mere 30 minute workout with the guy.
So yeah, I believe he's worth it, and then some.

I "borrow" my personal trainer services....whenever I am in the gym working out and I see someone with a PT, I will eavesdrop on the hints, tips, etc and then work them into my regimen. I've actually learned how to use several machines this way, as well as a few different ways to work various muscle groups.
Hey, we are in a recession here, people!Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Depends on a few things. Some of those personal trainers that hang out at the Gold's gym are completely useless aside from possibly being a motivating factor. A few of them actually know what they are doing when it comes to physiology but not many.
If you are looking for motivation, I would recommend getting a workout partner (not a spouse) and agreeing to meet that person at specific times each week. Then you go so you don't let down your workout partner and you have someone to help motivate you for much less than a personal trainer would cost.
If are REALLY clueless about working out and have money to burn then I would suggest asking around for a personal trainer that actually knows what he/she is doing.
What kinds of questions do you have? I suspect that many of us here are more qualified to answer those questions than a lot of the personal trainers you would come across.
