  • You guys up for another Nike+ challenge?

After getting thoroughly trounced by Sea Chicken and narrowly losing to bluegoose, I'm up for another challenge. I'm open to suggestions - we could do a 10k speed challenge, or another distance one, or something else completely. Thoughts?

I wasn't part of the last one, but I was thinking about this the other day. I remember a couple years ago someone on CB set one up where people tried to run as far as BYU would travel that year to play all the football games. Maybe we could do something like travel of BYU and Utah road games?

With trips to Dallas and NO, I think it would take us a LONG time to run that much.

I am all for a speed challenge. Heck I'll join your distance stuff too.

I may be in...not a runner all that much...but it might give me some motivation to do more.

My sensor battery died at the beginning of our last challenge and I don't think I'm ever going to bother replacing it. The Garmin is so nice that it renders the Nike+ a disappointment. I do love Nike's site and the challenges. I'm hoping that Garmin will put something similar together.

Me too, I would be willing to link my runs on the garmin somehow, but I can't be apart of the challenge.

I'm really surprised Garmin hasn't done this yet. The Nike ones are really popular and it seems like it wouldn't be a big deal to pull off. I'm in if Garmin gets its act together.

Agreed. The Garmin is much better than Nike+, and it's not close. It's so not close that I am considering actually trying non-Nike running shoes for the first time in forever just to see how much they've changed in 15 years.

What about mapmyrun.com? I haven't tried yet, but it looks like it supports Nike+ and the Garmin users. Technically, someone could even participate by manually entering their course and recording their time with a stopwatch.

Do you think we could just set our own up here? I don't know how the Nike+ thing worked, but couldn't we just set up a thread with a challenge and everyone just posts their garminconnect runs to the thread?

I'm boycotting mapmyrun since it's become overrun by ads.

Not a bad idea at all. That would also include Nike+ users since you can share that as well.

Those of us who use both can cherry-pick the more favorable measure.

I'm boycotting because I and thousands of others took the time to create routes and then they began to charge for access to unobstructed maps.
