I am pretty sure Coscto has a price guarantee. You should look into it.

BTW, if you're not a Costco member Amazon is carrying it right now for $161.87. It's Prime eligible for Prime members. That's free two day shipping.

I still have my 205 and I love it. One day, I will make the upgrade.

For keeping track of runs, I use SportTrack: http://www.zonefivesoftware.com/SportTracks/

Exactly. I don't understand all of this lowest cost stuff. Once you include sales tax, gas, time, and the fact that you have to go to Costco, the $12 difference seems like a bargain.

That program looks really cool. I use Runningahead.com and Garmin Connect, but I would like to have something on my own computer so if they decided to stop supporting those web sites my stuff wouldn't be wiped out. Thanks for posting that.

Costco only has it online, which also has free shipping.

Thanks for the suggestion, I had done a quick glance on their site originally when the coupon deal was posted, but didn't see anything about it. I just emailed them and they are giving me the $20 rebate. Apparently they have a 30 day price guarantee for online orders, though now that I think about it, they also have a $90 return policy, so if they didn't match it I could have just returned it for the refund, then bought it at the lower price.

agreed, that looks a lot better than the Garmin software and it appears to have just about all of the functionality that the website I use have.

My Garmin arrived today. So I guess I'll be going off of Nike+. I think I grew out of it's usefulness a year or so ago anyway, but after three years and 5,430 miles it's going to be a big transition for me. I was one of the early adopters of the Nike+ (my user id number is #37) and I really have to give it a lot of the credit for my staying motivated to run during the first year.

                  <-- End of Nike+imony -->

But, now it's time to move on. I'm really excited to use the Garmin to plan more specific workouts instead of just going out and running as fast or slow as I feel like it.

So, I installed the software and I'm charging the watch. Anything else I need to do besides go out and run?

I think the default setting is already set for running. I'd add your personal stats (weight or whatever it asks for) so you get more accurate calorie calcs. I think that's all I did.

Having just done this a couple of weeks ago I can tell you that the Garmin will guide you through setting up your profile when you're done charging. After that it will locate satellites and you're off and running. You won't be disappointed.

Having done a couple weeks worth of runs now I have to give a shout out to Nike+ for its accuracy. For what it is, a fancy pedometer, it was strikingly accurate if you ran at the pace at which you calibrated it

Your (running) world is about to change. You're gonna love that thing.

Can this thing be used for cycling?

And since I am "husky" does someone wanna explain this thing to me?

And when I say help me explain this...I am curious if the chest strap will fit around a fatty.

I don't have one yet (hopefully that will change SOON, as in tonight), but from what I understand it has settings for both running and cycling.

As to the "husky" question, I would imagine that if you gave one of the guys with a strap your chest size they could easily measure it and let you know.

Yes it has settings for running, cycling, swimming, and other (the display shows a pic of a skier).

My chest is 46" and it is plenty big. I am sure it would accommodate up to 55" or so. They also include two watch straps. One for larger wrists and another for smaller.
