The Gerson Therapy is an alternative medicine treatment that involves hourly drinking of juices made from organic fruits and vegetables, fresh, at the moment of consumption, by the consumer. It also involves coffee enemas, castor oil enemas, and oral ingestion of "enzymes" to flush out "toxins."
There is legitimate scientific evidence that a diet very similar to the Gerson diet (sans the coffee enemas) prolongs the life of people who suffer from cancer while still receiving conventional/traditional treatments like chemo and radiation. It was also shown, in a tiny study in Austria, to help people recover faster from the traditional treatment.

A friend of mine found out on October 18th that he had Stage 3 non small-cell lung cancer and that it was inoperable. He decided not to do chemo and radiation, opting instead for the Gerson Treatment. He started it in Tijuana, Mexico on December 1st. He looked normal and healthy (he was an extremely fit man). By December 19th, he looked like a heroin addict, with LITERS of fluid accumulating around his heart and lungs. He died New Years Eve.
