We're probably just going to have one of the fruit vendors on the highway do it.

    Good luck!

After my knee replacement I lost a quick 5 lbs just because I didn't feel like eating. Once my appetite came back I couldn't get enough food in me and gained 10lb over the holidays. It didn't help that I couldn't work out during this time. Since the first of the year I've taken off 9 of those ten pounds. Just cutting down on the amount I was eating and being able to work out has done it. I did 7 miles on my skis Saturday and 7.5 on Sunday, it felt good to just be tired and not hurt by the time I was done.

of course modifying your diet will help you meet your goals. it is easier to eat at a deficit when you are eating seeds instead of eating cheeseburgers. But the larger point is confirmed by your experience....burn more calories than you consume and you will lose weight.

If you are going to make a radical change in your life, why not commit to burning more calories and consuming fewer unnecessary calories instead of eliminating basic staples of the human diet.

Never quite understood why this concept is so hard for so many to understand.
When I finally got serious about losing weight it was when I used Fit Day (thanks Pelagius) and tracked every bite that went in my mouth. I was busting out a scale at the dinner table to measure proportions. And Fit Day kept me accountable. Hell it served as a deterrent as well. Sometimes I didn't indulge in a snack simple because I didn't want to have to log it. With my diet in check and my exercise I could see a calorie deficit and the pounds melted off.
