Looks lovely. I'm sure that picture is being blocked by Canada's nanny state internet filter.

Picket Guard. It is not very accessible. 23 miles to the closest trailhead and 1000+ ft of cross county climbing up to the lake. the fishing was really good there as well.

My overnight jaunt into Nelson Lake out of Tuolumne meadows in Yosemite was fun a week ago.

There was a trail to Elizabeth lake and then a use trail over the pass. Then some cross country to Nelson lake. The next day I went over a different cross country pass to find the Rafferty Creek trail. All in all it was a 15 mile trip.

I didn't see a single person the first day.

This summer has been great for hiking thus far. Did 10 miles with my wife last Saturday and then 10 miles today by myself since she is out of town. I found a route up some little peak that was 11938' and then followed a ridge up to Thompson lake at 12131'. The best part was looking on what we hiked last week.

I got permits this morning for a 7 night trip this August for a trip out of Devil's Postpile going around the Minarets and into southern Yosemite.

Yay, more cross country hiking in my future. I think we are hitting at least 6 cross country passes.

Nice! I've got a postcard of Devils Postpile hanging in my office that a patient sent me a few years ago. That place looks awesome.

I went and hiked Clouds Rest and Half Dome in Yosemite. It was a leisurely 3 night backpacking trip. Night 2 had a great view of half dome. The first 2 nights we had great campsites and solitude. Night 3 after half dome we stayed in little yosemite valley and it was a zoo at that camp. A bear stole the jerky of the girls in string bikinis and then followed them when they moved to the other side of the camp. Morons.

Half Dome is really fun, but also scary. My 12 year old daughter made it up there with my wife and I. I think her being on the cables made me nervous. Luckily we got there early and the climb had only a few people. Coming down there were probably 40 people on the cables that we had to pass. That is not fun.
