We played a team the other night that finished 2nd at Worlds. (Yes they have Worlds for slow pitch softball). They were 12-0 in our league, and we put up 38 runs on them and won. They were pissed and cussing up a storm.Originally posted by FN Phat View PostThat sounds like a high level of softball
I had 5 hits, all singles. Could have stretched 3 for extra bases, no need.*Banned*

Worlds sounds like its pretty easy to dominate. Maybe you could do it yourself with ghost runners!Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostWe played a team the other night that finished 2nd at Worlds. That is damn impressive. Slow pitch softball is no joke. Those boys can ball.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostWe played a team the other night that finished 2nd at Worlds. Do you have any type of homerun rules in your league. When I use to travel and play competitive softball each league and/or tournament seemed to have different rules. As I have never been to hang with the big boys if there is unlimited HRs I liked the rules. I have gotten so old and slow I would be terrified to play SS on an all dirt infield again. Oh to be young and fearless once again, Archie and Edith use to sing those were the days...Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostWe played a team the other night that finished 2nd at Worlds. Normally we play in Provo and their rule is just 1 up, you can only hit 1 more than the other team. This year we are playing in Spanish Fork and they have a 3 homerun and then 1 up rule.Originally posted by Art Vandelay View PostDo you have any type of homerun rules in your league. Shortstop is not horrible because you can play deep in the hole and give yourself a little more time. I would hate to pitch (all the pitchers in our league wear masks) or play 3rd base. I play first and there are some lefties that just crush the ball its tough to stay in front of it.*Banned*

No kidding. I have been playing 3rd and I play pretty deep. I caught a line drive the other night that was whistling. In this league I have been playing in the pitchers don't wear masks. But this season I have seen two. And this is an ASA (98 mph bats) league.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostNormally we play in Provo and their rule is just 1 up, you can only hit 1 more than the other team. I hurt my back, and I've only been out twice this year to test it. Both times I found out in a hurry I wasn't ready. I think I'm getting close though. I'd like to start posting in a golf thread, but I'm confused which one I should use.
A little about me:
--shitty golfer but want to get better, probably about a 18 handicap
--tall with a big swing, can hit the crap out of the ball, but inconsistent
--don't fit in at all with the country club golfer types
--have built my own clubs and like shop talk
--interested in equipment

This thread is for all golfers. Let your young, your old, your low or high handicappers, your drawers and faders, slicers and hookers (!), your hacks or scratches, experienced and newbies all post here. All golfers are welcome in this thread.Originally posted by jay santos View PostI hurt my back, and I've only been out twice this year to test it. Both times I found out in a hurry I wasn't ready. If you post from a pedestal, don't be surprised if you get knocked off it a time or two. That doesn't mean you're not welcome here. I played 36 yesterday at Running Y in Kalamath Falls. A buddy of mine is a Pharm rep and that is in his area, they have a stay and unlimited play deal and we hit it up yesterday along with his BIL.
The first round I felt like I was just a step off on everything but put together a round I was happy with 106 from the tips. We grabbed some lunch and headed back out. They both wanted to play from the whites the second time around. Man the course looked different from there. I shot a 44 on the front 9 and was playing the best golf of my life, exploded a little on the back for a 53, but shot a very good for me 97.
My head is sunburned.Get confident, stupid

That would be great. Let us know. Maybe he will get paired up with my son.Originally posted by Katy Lied View PostCross your fingers. As the qualifying results come in, the son of one of our friends is in contention to qualify for the Utah State Amateur. He is 11.
Shot a 95 today. Life has ended as I know it. My golf game having gone to hell I should have know the Utah announcement was also coming.

Unfortunately, he didn't make it. He was tied with 11 other guys for the last 3 spots. The last 12 then played a sudden death playoff round at the end of the day in qualifying. He bogeyed the first hole, so he was out. Maybe next year.
Still a great showing for an 11-year old playing from the back tees.
Im hoping he plays for BYU, of course.

It is beyond a great showing, even awesome showing doesn't describe it. Tell him you know a guy who absolutely loves golf and is awed at what he did.Originally posted by Katy Lied View PostUnfortunately, he didn't make it. If he says, who cares what an old guy thinks, that's OK.

After a five year lay off from playing in any tournament I was invited to play in a member guest this week. Today was the first day and I was able to scrape together a 86. I did make one eagle that I hope pays off big in the skins game but it wasn't pretty. The short game is a mess and every shot under a 100 yards makes me very nervous and tight. I did enjoy playing again with something on the line and I'm looking forward to tomorrow.
