Solon mentioned Cam Levins a while back, but I think this guy deserves a thread. Pretty amazing story that I was reminded of when watching him light the torch at the Utah Summer Games last night. He won both the 5K and 10K at the NCAA Championships a week ago--the first guy in 10+ years to pull that off--thus singlehandedly earning SUU an 11th place finish--BYU was 21st. The top 15:
1) Florida 50
2) LSU 48
3) Texas A&M 40
4) Florida State 38
5) Virginia Tech 33
6) Auburn 30
7) Arizona 27
8) Arkansas 26
9) Texas 22
9) Oregon 22
11) Indiana 20
11) Southern Utah 20
11) Nebraska 20
11) USC 20
11) Illinois 20
One of these schools is not like the others...
An article on him today tells his story:
Comes from a poor family in a rural high school in Canada. Two years ago, he decided to go old school with his miles as his only shot to make noise. He now runs 150+ miles a week. Doesn't taper. He has coaches everywhere rethinking the most accepted tenets of training. And by all accounts, just a super nice kid.
Pretty amazing story. He'll be running in London in a few weeks.
