That's awesome... and at the Millrose Games nonetheless. Man, it pushes me to run a half mile in that time at my 5k pace.
I have nothing else to say at this time.

When I did the 2 mile run in the army in twelve minutes flat I thought it was pretty bad ass. This just astounds me. Props to Batty.

              Race starts at 4:55

I personally think the best races are run with negative splits. I think he ran well. I think he got swallowed up at the 800 and he had way too much ground to make up. It is no fun...you have nothing left to finish. That is why he looked like he was carrying a piano the last lap.

This is a classic post to me and mine. DC completely ignores that the collegiate record was broken and focuses on the fact that the kid lost the race.

It's like a line out of my adolescence:
                "Dad, I broke the record!"

Dad: "Yeah, but you lost the race. And you looked like sh++t out there that last lap!"

When I did it in 13 minutes I thougt I was badass. But I also did it after two minutes each of pushups and situps and I am convinced I could do more pushups, at least then "and not Marine Corps pushups," than Brother Batty. Most distance/double x fags ain't exactly packing a couple of tombstones for pecs!

Pretty damn good. Our HS basketabll coach would cut anyone that could not run a 6 minute mile. I was more of a sprinter and field events guy during track season, but I puked out several sub 5:00 1600s while my basketball coach was screaming from the bleachers. I don't think I ever broke 4:45 though.

A sub 5:00 1600 is really good. My 4:31 time was at the state track meet my senior year and fortunately I placed (5th) so my time was official.

This guy has run this race in his head a thousand times. He certainly went over the scenario of being boxed in at 800 and I bet you he is wishing to have that one back.

Also, I was listening to him interview. Sounds like he is a distance guy converted to a middle distance guy. He likely needs faster initial splits. If he can't run a 52 400 at the end of his race, he will lose that scenario 100% of the time. So, he lost the race in the first 400 meters and it had little to do with him and more to do with the rabbit.
