Not me. Like you said, I didn't really see anything on their list of premiem benefits that would really be better for what I use it for.

Today I resisted stopping at a fast food place because I didn't want to have to enter it on fitday. I consider that a win.

I've always gone along with what Greg Lemond said "If you keep the furnace hot enough you can burn anything". Up to this point it's worked out fair but I'm at the point in my life I need to change what I eat. My big down fall has always been sugar. I would put away an uncooked brownie mix or a bag of cookies or several snickers and then go work my ass off in the gym or on the bike and that has kept me right around 200 lbs on my 6' 2" frame. Last year I eliminated soda from my diet entirely and right now I'm working on candy. So far I feel better and my body fat is dropping. I really started to believe that even though you may work off a lot of calories it's not good for your body to have to work through that many. This FITDAY has shown me that I'm still very heavy on the carbs and I need more protein in my diet so thanks for pointing out this site.

RC, do you have any insights on the dietetics side? I tried to get pelagius to help, but he selfishly refused to share his wife with me (knock it off, pervs, I didn't mean it THAT way). I am just saying that pelagius is clearly worried that others on CUF are going to surpass his biceps, so I don't blame him for not wanting to give away his secrets.

I have been nosing around online and have seen suggestions that my diet should be about a 40-30-30 ratio of carbs to protein to healthy fats. Does this sound about right to you? Or to anyone else reading this?

Before I started keeping track, I would have guessed that fats were my downfall. But after only 10 or so days, it is completely obvious that I am a sucker for carbs. I love bread, pasta, potatoes, rice, you name it.

PS in tracking diet, I have to give a hip-hip-hooray to the WoW. Amazing how many complications in life you can avoid by not smoking or drinking. Drinking beer is an incredibly fattening pasttime. Holy cow!

My wife is not a dietician, but is only a couple of classes short of being one (switched her major) and what they taught at the time was 60 20 20 carbs protein fat. My diet right now is about 65 35 10.

Phew. I was feeling bad because a good day for me is only 50% carbs. 60% is a goal I can live with.

With regular exercise assumed as a constant, I suppose? Carbs get a bad rap, imo, so good to see your response.

Personally, I don't mind this ratio at all, but I suppose that since everybody is different, the ratio is not a hard and fast rule. Some folks simply pack it on from too many carbs, others can tolerate it.

I don't know if that's assumed or not. However, carbs are supposed to make up a majority of calories, and apparently you need to have a certain amount of carbs in order to properly metabolize fat and protein. I'm not the expert, though.

This thread is reminding me that I need to eat better. I've consistently been at about 180-183 the last couple of months, but I'd like to down to about 175 or so. The only thing really holding me back is my horrific diet. Though last night we were at Whole Foods and the wifey wanted to get some cake for dessert, but I opted for some pineapple and li hing mui. I also resisted the temptation to eat some thin mints. It was an amazing display of self-restraint on my part.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

One thing I have learned about lower calorie foods......anything sweetened with Splenda tastes nasty. It has a gross aftertaste. And yogurt with splenda is ruined. I would rather have normal yogurt and exercise an extra 20 minutes or so.

I have never really done a traditional diet in my life, so Splenda is a massive jump for me. Up until this point, the biggest "diet" food in my life was 2% milk instead of whole milk.

I think that the Dannon Light and Fit are not too bad for low calorie yogurt. Probably the best out there. But give me a regular Dannon Fruit on the bottom any day.

I've tried to use fitday three times now. Every time I enter a food and hit the button to log it (or whatever) the browser goes to some error screen and says that the screen can't be shown.

Either peanut butter on toast is really really bad for you, or I am doing something wrong.

I like the idea of tracking intake and think it would be helpful, but 30 minutes of error screens while I try to make it work is not good for my blood pressure.

search for peanut butter. add it to your daily log.

search for bread, add it to your daily log.
