  • 2012 Resolutions

Since most resolutions involve fitness, I figured this was the place. I'm overweight. In November I had Lap-Band surgery and I've lost 20 pounds so far, even through the holidays. This year, I'm getting back on my bikes (mtb and road) and back in the weight room. I am setting the goal to ride the MS 150 in KC in September, and to break 200 pounds by 01/01/13 (which works out to a bit less than 5 pounds a month).
Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats.

Is anyone else afraid of going to the gym for the next couple weeks? It seems that January/Frebruary are the worst months for the gym. Maybe I'll just take a couple months off and get back into cycling/running in March or April.

I noticed this last year. January was packed. February not so much.

It's not as bad in the mornings as the evenings (I went this am @ 5:30, and it was more busy than normal, but nothing unmanageable).

I'm not afraid. I will be there later today.

Thankfully, I have special permission from myself to not go until January 11.

              No gym!
I hate working out inside enough that there is no way I'm paying someone $30+ a month to do it.
Aerobic stuff is easy enough to do outside, but for those who want some decent no equipment strength stuff, I'd recommend simplefit.org . Requires a pull-up bar and about 20 minutes a day, three times a week. I did the program as outlined for about a month of the winter last year, off and on through the summer, and then tweaked it (and I think improved it) and have been pretty faithful for the last month. Take a look at it and if you want to know the tweaks that fix the problems with it, I'll share mine. Since I started, I made it from being able to do 1 pullup to doing 8 consecutive now (I have long arms, dang it!), which I think is pretty good for only a few erratic months of following it.

At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

Yeah it's been much busier this week.

Actually, I'm mad at Santa. He never listened to my letters and never got me what I wanted. :anger:

                        Oh, and :finger3:

I went to the gym during lunch and it was about twice as busy. Hopefully it dies down quick.

I might also try and avoid the temple for the next couple months. The busiest months for the temple are also in the first of the year....at least according to my parents who are temple workers.

Just wondering after doing a quick calculation of your goal weight, how much you've lost and expect to lose over the next year. I figured you must be shorter to have qualified for the surgery.

I figured some people wouldn't be able to resist taking pot shots at me for being overweight, thanks for not doing that.
