    Anyone ever been rolfed?

For about the last 10 days I have had a pretty constant pain in my back and at the suggestion of a friend I work out with I am going to see a certified Rolfer this afternoon.

I am a little nervous, not like when I tried colon hydrotherapy but still nervous.

I don't see any need to be nervous. It's a form of massage therapy, which can really help if you get a good therapist.

I'm very skeptical of Rolfing's claims. If it works at all, it is just working as massage therapy. I've also heard that sessions can be very painful.

Have you considered an osteopath? They do manipulations and massages. My primary care doctor growing up was an osteopath. It was quite awesome, never painful.

I'm not sure I totally buy what happened during our session. He kept asking me if I could tell the difference in flexibility between my right ____ and left ____. Basically I just said yes, but I didn't notice a difference.

He wasn't much of a talker so a lot of the time was spent with me lying on a table and him touching me on my back or leg. It was oddly quiet and I could hear his stomach making digestive noises. At one point he accidentally (I'm giving the benefit of the doubt) let an audible fart sneak out. It was quite an experience, my back still is very painful and I've been thinking about this Adam Sandler skit all day.

I don't Rolf often, but when I do I prefer to do it in the privacy of my own home.
